When my wife and son returned from the Mall of America last weekend, they brought interesting news: A vast Microsoft retail store was opening directly across from Apple’s longtime megamall outlet.

I grabbed a Pioneer Press car and dashed over there to document the scene in pictures, which went up on a Your Tech Weblog post.

That post has ‘sploded on the interwebz this week.

It was mentioned in the Wall Street Journal and it appeared on Techmeme. Leo Laporte showed it on MacBreak Weekly (scrub to the 1:20:00 mark above).

Googling ‘Microsoft Mall of America’ turned up dozens of hits. (Most of these linked to my post or identified me and/or my employer, but some of gave me no credit at all while grabbing one or more of my pictures.)

I’m even on the Geek Culture/Joy of Tech blog! (I’m a big fan of those Canadians.)

Hey, not bad for a quick bit of weekend blogging. I have to figure out some really awesome way to thank the kid and the missus.
