My son and his fellow Central High School robotics geeks recently attended the 2014 FIRST Robotics Competition in St. Louis after successfully crowdfunding the trip.
And while their MinuteBots team was not among the tournament winners, the teens had the adventure of a lifetime. This, thanks to my wife’s role as a trip chaperone and her discerning palate, included sushi and Peruvian food.
The MinuteBots have received quite a bit of media attention.
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is kind of a big deal for kids. Founded by Segway inventor Dean Kamen, FIRST is actually an assortment of tournaments that include LEGO League competitions.
