I am ‘Julio Adama’ in a Nitrozac cartoon

1537

Being portrayed in a web or newspaper comic is a gas. This has happened to me once or twice, but the latest instance is the ultimate.

Today’s “Joy of Tech” comic by the famed “Nitrozac” shows how top national technology journalists might dress for a sci-fi convention.

There they all are: Veronica “Inara” Belmont, Leo Laporte as “Captain LeoLaKirk,” Andy Ihnatko as “Obi-Wan Ihnatko,” John Gruber as “Gruber Fett,” David Pogue as “Doctor Pogue,” Robert Scoble as “Luke Scoblewalker” and Walt Mossberg as (of course) “Walt Mossborg.” More …

My review of ‘Keeping It Straight’

Bookcover

Patrick Rhone has undergone a remarkable transformation in the past year or so.

The longtime St. Paul technical consultant and Mac geek became a celebrated blogger with “Minimal Mac,” a Tumblr-based celebration of all that is elegant and streamlined in the Apple-related universe.

That led to “Enough,” a podcast cohosted by Britain-based Myke Hurley, serving as an auditory offshoot of “Minimal Mac.” More …

Honored to be on ‘Enough’ show

Enough,’ the ‘Minimal Mac‘ podcast, is on a short list of must-listen shows in my iTunes queue.

Spare in approach, with no annoying music at the beginning, and consisting simply of a conversation between co-hosts Patrick Rhone (photo above) and Myke Hurley, the show never fails to give me vital lessons in minimalism, Mac-related and otherwise. More …

My iPad and me on public TV

An iPad was my sidekick tonight as I appeared on Twin Cities Public Television’s Almanac current-affairs show.

I talk iPad 2 on KARE 11 Sunrise

Early this morning I was on KARE 11, the Twin Cities’ NBC affiliate, to talk about the iPad 2 and accessories for the popular tablet.

I focused on elegant products made in Minnesota, including a Byrd & Belle sleeve made of fine wool; a book-style iPad case made by Pad & Quill out of Baltic birch and leather; and another book-like iPad case with a wool-sleeve insert courtesy of Nedrelow. More …

I’m featured in business book

I’m quoted in a new book, “The Four Stages of Highly Effective Crisis Management,” which is about how to deal with or “manage” the media in a time of crisis.

I’m obviously “the media” in this context.

In the book, I describe how I use social media for “crowdsourcing” during breaking-news coverage. This is in chapter four, titled “Social Media’s Role in Crisis.” More …

I talk tablets (iPad 2, Xoom) and other gadgets (Atrix 4G with Webtop dock) on the Fox 9 morning news. Fox 9 has interviewed me a bunch of times about such stuff, but this is the first time I’ve been in-studio at the station’s Eden Prairie HQ. Fun!
