I appear on the TPT ‘Almanac’ media panel

Ah, ‘Almanac‘ — I’ve watched the Twin Cities Public Television news and public-affairs show for ages.

I was never on the show, though, and envied my fellow journalists who were. I imagined the stars might align somehow, someday, so I could sit on that couch and submit to gentle questioning from the famed husband-and-wife hosting team, Cathy Wurzer and Erik Eskola. More …

iPad Means Business, the new book by tech pundit, my dear friend, and all-around good guy Julio Ojeda-Zapata, has just gone up for preorder. I suggest you buy it. I wrote one of the forewords, but that is not the reason why (although, I’d be honored if it was).

I think you should buy this book, read it, and then give it to the next person who tells you that the iPad is “only for consumption, not creation” or “It’s a toy.

When my wife and son returned from the Mall of America last weekend, they brought interesting news: A vast Microsoft retail store was opening directly across from Apple’s longtime megamall outlet.

I grabbed a Pioneer Press car and dashed over there to document the scene in pictures, which went up on a Your Tech Weblog post.

That post has ‘sploded on the interwebz this week. More …

I’m excited to show you the cover of my new book, ‘iPad Means Business,’ which will be out before the end of the year.

It’s published by the same folks who released my last book, ‘Twitter Means Business.’ Given the new book’s Apple-centric topic, I think it’s cool that my publisher is based in Cupertino, Calif. (though, to be clear, it has no connection to One Infinite Loop). More …

On a recent episode of ‘This Week in Tech,’ I told (a somewhat skeptical) Leo Laporte and John Dvorak about the deep impact of social media, especially Twitter, on my personal and professional lives.

That reminded me of an old episode of ‘Eskimo Witch,’ Chuck Olsen’s dearly departed video-humor series, in which I make essentially the same points.

(Later in the video, I deny I’m part of the Russian Mafia.) More …

In one of their recent podcasts, my Minnov8 Gang buddies had nice things to say about the recent Minnesota Blogger Conference, and my participation therein. I’m flattered. Thank you.

Yes, guys, Posterous is pronounced like “preposterous.” (I confirmed with Garry Tan, the blogging service’s cofounder.) I agree that’s preposterous. The name should be pronounced like “to post.”

And, yes, Skyping in Garry and my other guest, Leo Laporte, was a “high-wire act.” More …

My pal Steve Borsch shot this video during the eagerly anticipated Leo Laporte portion of my Minnesota Blogger Conference session on Saturday.

I pulled in the famed tech-podcast personality via Skype to discuss the Squarespace blogging platform.

This worked out pretty well. Leo could see the audience via my MacBook Pro webcam, and the audience could see him on the projection screen. More …

I had the honor of presenting at the first-ever Minnesota Blogger Conference on Saturday.

I did not realize at the time that The UpTake was recording the whole thing, which is great. In fact, a  total of six sessions are now online for all to see.

My session focused on tools to make blogging easier and more enjoyable. I packed in a lot of stuff, and included a number of guests  — some in person, some via Skype video; some planned, some impromptu — to enrich the presentation. More …

The first-ever Minnesota bloggercon is on (and I’m a speaker)!

Mbclogofinal

I so like to blog. I love to blog so much that I have six blogs (with more surely to come). They do not all get the same amount of attention, of course, but each has its well-defined role. They all matter.

I expound on my blogging passion — perhaps the right word is “addiction” — in this post.

It’s on the Minnesota Blogger Conference site ahead of the group’s first-ever, already-sold-out event in downtown St. More …

Crack Pioneer Press graphic artist (and my pal) David Steinlicht goes crop art-crazy for the Minnesota State Fair every year, laboring on some pretty amazing creations, and documenting his work from start to finish on a blog.

I really like his entry (it’s a working clock with a crop-art facade) for this year’s State Fair. He won in his “natural colors, advanced” category! More …
