I was a guest host on today’s installment of the Minnov8 Gang Podcast, which focused to a large extent on this week’s Ignite Minneapolis multi-speaker event.

I once spoke at Ignite, and Minnov8’s Steve Borsch had fun with that in the episode artwork.

Just for fun, I had my cartoonist buddy David Steinlicht draw me as Dick Tracy with an Apple Watch.

I had planned to use the cartoon with a review of the Apple Watch, but since I didn’t buy one and an Apple review unit will be longer in coming than anticipated, I’m sharing David’s artistic wizardry with you now.

When my wife and I popped into a SmashBurger joint the other day, we were surprised and excited to see WCCO-TV’s Jason DeRusha there filming one of his DeRusha Eats segments.

When I was Puerto Rican kid and obsessively devoted to my collection of science-fiction novels, I would create paper bookplates with my personal details along with drawings of zooming spaceships, planetary panoramas and the like.

I’ve been on the Minnov8 Gang podcast a bunch in recent years, but it’s usually via Skype. I have not done this in the flesh for a long time.

So it was a pleasure and an honor to join Steve Borsch, Graeme Thickins and Phil Wilson during Minnebar at Best Buy headquarters today.

As an alumnus of St. John’s University, the central-Minnesota institution run by Benedictine monks, I am perpetually in awe of the school’s Abbey Church.

Each Sunday newspaper has a standalone business section with a full-color cover. Each of those covers has a lengthy lead story.

For five weeks in a row, I wrote that lead story.
