Odden coolness at bloggercon

I just discovered this great shot of Lee Odden, with yours truly in the background, at the 2011 Minnesota Bloggers Conference. Lee was the keynote speaker that year. The photo was originally posted here.

I headline Social Media Breakfast

Social Media Breakfast – Minneapolis/St. Paul paid me a huge compliment by making me the starring attraction of its September event. I’m honored. Thank you.

Pix of me Social Media Breakfast

Here are fun shots by Teresa Boardman and Missy Bickel Berggren of yours truly as the main attraction at today’s Social Media Breakfast/Minneapolis St. Paul #49.

The event had a simple format: Mykl Roventine and I sat in chairs (in the basement of a Catholic church, of all places) and had a wide-ranging chat about the intersection of personal tech and social media.

Video of the event will be posted soon.

My Pioneer Press ‘mug’ updated

Every half-decade or decade, St. Paul Pioneer Press writers have their “mugs” reshot. Ben Garvin, one of the paper’s amazing photographers, shot these today.

The one at the top is a joke — Ben likes to kid around.

The rest are candidates for the TwinCities.com page where my articles go (my Twitter avatar is there as a placeholder now).

Ben did nice work; these are the coolest staff photos of me ever.

The Minnesota bloggercon scene

Here’s more imagery from last weekend’s Minnesota Bloggers Conference.

This collage shows conference organizer Missy Bickel Berggren and yours truly using iPhones to document the amazing goings-on.

The photos are on the Ms. Giggles site.

I speak at Minnesota bloggercon

I was a morning speaker at the third Minnesota Bloggers Conference, held today in Minneapolis. I spoke about Google+ and the Google social network’s potential as a blogging platform.

That’s why I’m holding up a Google+ book by Guy Kawasaki, the famed writer and venture capitalist, who blogs almost exclusively on Google+.

In the second and third shots, I’m using an iPhone 5 to take pictures of the event’s opening session.

My coworker Ryan Husckha, TwinCities.com general manager (and a fellow nerd), can be seen in those two shots as he spoke to the open-session crowd (while giving me a bit of grief for my gadget geekiness). You can also see Ryan here and here.

In the subsequent photos, I’m bringing famed tech columnist and blogger Mike Elgan into my session via Google+ Hangout videoconferencing, which went pretty well. Elgan, who lives in Greece, also is all-in with Google+ for blogging.

Kudos to the Minnesota Bloggers Conference organizers for putting on a killer event.

I talk iPhone 5 on Minnov8

I was a guest on the Minnov8 Gang podcast via smartphone while at Minneapolis’ Uptown Apple store, where the iPhone 5 was just going on sale.

The gang and I had a vigorous conversation about the relative merits of Apple and Google mobile tech. The chat got heated at times.

As usual, Steve Borsch came up with funny artwork the show’s blog post (no, I don’t really reside at the Stillwater prison).
